While the weather showed up on its best behavior— and not a snowflake in sight —the 55th Annual Virginia City Grand Prix (VCGP) still found plenty of ways to humble even the most confident riders.

The April 24–26 showdown brought a sold-out field of nearly 1,000 riders charging across the Comstock in a three-day blur of throttle, grit, and questionable life choices. The course didn’t just challenge competitors—it downright bullied them, chewing up hopeful podium chasers and spitting them back out coated head-to-toe in Nevada’s finest dust. But for those who managed to hang on and cross the finish line, the mix of exhaustion and triumph made every bump, bruise, and bad decision worth it.

And then there was Beta Pro rider Zane Roberts of Reno, who clearly decided winning the normal way was getting a little boring. Instead of leading from the front, Roberts started dead last in the Open Pro class and still carved his way through the entire field to land right back on top. Because apparently passing a few hundred riders on a punishing course is just another weekend activity.

Huge credit goes to the Virginia City Motorsports Club for keeping this legendary race alive and kicking. And to every racer—from the Moto Mouth Minis to the Pros—who took a tumble, ate a little (or a lot of) dirt, and got back on the throttle anyway: that’s the kind of stubborn grit that makes the VCGP what it is.
