Community Invited to View Progress on the Tunnel, Enjoy Barbecue, Drinks and More

Dayton, NV – Nevada Builders Alliance (NBA), the state’s largest construction and building trade association, announces its fourth annual ‘Meat and Drink’ event hosted at the Sutro Tunnel on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event will feature food from Carson City BBQ, whiskey tastings, a scavenger hunt, a fundraising chipping contest, games and more. This event is open to the community and general admission tickets are $30. Nevada Builders Alliance members receive their first ticket free and can purchase additional tickets for $20.
“Our annual event at Sutro Tunnel has proven to be one of our most unique events that both our members and the community look forward to,” said Jeff Sutich, CEO of Nevada Builders Alliance. “This year, we’re excited to add even more games and activities for everyone to enjoy. Beyond being a fun community gathering, we are also raising money for the Nevada Builders Foundation, which helps support and build the next generation of construction professionals. This location is also special to our organization, as several of our members are actively involved in the restoration of this historic site.”
The event allows the public to see the updates made to the site and the progress inside the tunnel by Simerson Construction, all while enjoying lawn games and a scavenger hunt. There will be self-guided tours around Sutro, as well as a fundraising chipping contest in the newly refurbished pond, with donations going directly toward the Nevada Builders Foundation. Admission to the event includes dinner by Carson City BBQ, a beverage, and free whiskey tastings in the tunnel. The Nevada Builders Foundation will also be serving Karma Sutro Pale Ale by Fox Brewery from their beer truck.
