On June 25, 2026, nearly 70 community members gathered at the Dayton Valley Community Center to hear updates from local government leaders on infrastructure advancements, grant-funded initiatives, and other projects impacting Lyon County, Storey County, and Carson City.

The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce event was facilitated by Lyon County Commissioner and Northern Nevada Development Authority Executive Director John Cassinelli, who opened the presentation with updates specific to Lyon County District 1. Cassinelli reported that reconstruction of the historic Dayton Depot is progressing well, while the East Dayton Bridge feasibility study is currently underway and is expected to take approximately 16 to 18 months to complete.

He also noted that the developer-funded traffic signal at U.S. 50 and Traditions Parkway is now operational; however, the U.S. 50 East of Dayton Preservation Project – which includes the installation of additional traffic signals at River Boat Road and Six Mile Canyon Road – has been delayed. Construction is currently anticipated to begin in fall 2026 or spring 2027.
