Dayton Valley Dog Park Announces Closures
via DVDP Board of Directors
Portions of your Dayton Valley Dog Park will be closed tentatively beginning mid-May, with the specific start date to be finalized as soon as possible – to reopen no sooner than mid-July.
We will post further details as they are scheduled, but for right now, plan on the All Breed dog area being INACCESSIBLE for the entire closure period. This will likely be an extended period, upwards of at least two months for the All Breed dog area.
Large dog area – (non sagebrush area) – will be closed for approximately the first two weeks of the total closure. We are currently attempting to secure a temporary fence that would allow for the sagebrush area to continue to be used during this two week time period – but that is still in the works. It is possible that the whole Large dog area may need to be closed for that two week time period, which would mean the sagebrush area would be inaccessible as well. During that two weeks, the large gate entrance will be open and unattended during work hours, which will be unsecure for dogs in that area.
The Small dog area will remain open and available for the entire project work period.
Project: Restoration of the All-Breed Area – Phase 2
Project Awarded to: Cassinelli Landscaping & Construction
A continuation from last year’s restoration project, Phase 2 is planned to level out the center grassy area, map the center sprinkler system, and re-grass the All Breed area of the park. The extended closure is needed for the grass to fully take root and establish itself before traffic from people feet and dog paw can trample it.
The Dayton Valley Dog Park was awarded a SECOND generous grant from the Brown Family Foundation in November that has allowed us to get this project Phase 2 planned, phased, and get under way.
Please know that we are aware the timing may not be the greatest for the patrons of the park – but it is the perfect timing for the grounds. We hope you will bear with us, come out and continue to use the rest of the park. We also ask that you be extra patient with each other in the park.
Some ideas that we are working with, with the extended closure of the All Breed dog area for at least two months include possibly employing rotating days between small and large dog days, using the current small dog area. I would love to hear some constructive ideas from you, our patrons: daytonvalleydogpark@gmail.com.
Thank you for your understanding and patience. We will do our very best to keep everyone updated on all facets of Phase 2 of this project.
