October 16, 2026
YERINGTON, NV – On Oct. 16, 2026, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office arrested 61-year-old Steven Ray Farwell, a teacher at Yerington Intermediate School, following an investigation into allegations that he knowingly provided false residential information on multiple government documents, including his Nevada driver's license and voter registration.
The investigation began on Oct. 15, 2026, when a School Resource Officer assigned to Yerington Intermediate School was contacted by school administration regarding a package delivered to the school addressed to Farwell. The package contained approximately 400 rounds of rifle ammunition.
During the initial investigation, deputies learned that Farwell had been using the school's physical address as his personal residence on official government documents, despite not residing at the school. School officials advised that Farwell had previously been instructed not to use the school's address for personal mail or deliveries.
Further investigation revealed that Farwell had listed the school's address as his residence on multiple official documents and applications. Deputies also discovered discrepancies in his reported residential history and determined that he had registered to vote in Lyon County using an address where he did not reside.
When questioned by deputies, Farwell acknowledged using the school's address but declined to provide investigators with a verifiable residential address. Farwell indicated that he resided in the Topaz area of Douglas County but would not disclose his specific location.
As a result of the investigation, Farwell was arrested and booked into the Lyon County Jail on the following charges:
• Forgery – Felony
• Perjury – Felony
• Unlawful Acts Regarding Voter Registration – Felony
• Obstructing a Public Officer – Misdemeanor
Farwell’s bail was set at $13,641.00.
