The historic Mackay Mansion was buzzing with magical energy on Saturday, Aug. 22, as it hosted its inaugural Witches Market, drawing an impressive crowd to the beautiful grounds overlooking Virginia City.
The free event welcomed visitors from across Northern Nevada and beyond for a day of shopping, exploration, and a little bit of mystery. Guests browsed a wide variety of unique, handmade goods created by local artists, makers, and small businesses while enjoying great summer weather and the stunning setting of one of VC's most iconic landmarks.
For those seeking a bit of insight into the future, intuitives and skilled tarot card readers were on hand throughout the day, offering guidance and clarity. Firehouse Saloon added to the experience, serving food and drinks to visitors while they relaxed, treasure hunted, and enjoyed the lively gathering.
The magic continued well after sunset. Throughout the weekend, Mackay Mansion hosted two nights of ghost hunts, a special séance with Patti Negri—known to many as the "Good Witch of Hollywood"—and even a haunted doll tea party for guests looking to embrace the mansion's famously spooky side.
With strong attendance, enthusiastic vendors, and a weekend full of mystical fun, the inaugural Witches Market cast quite a spell on VC and provided a memorable showcase for Northern Nevada's creative community.
