Virginia City Facade Grant Deadline Extended

Virginia City Main Street has an important update regarding the 2026 Facade Improvement Grant Program.

Due to a change in administration at the Historic District Office, the application deadline has been extended to Oct. 1, 2026. That means there is still time for eligible Virginia City property owners and business tenants to apply for up to $1,000 toward exterior building improvements.

Eligible applicants include:

Commercial property owners
Business tenants with written property-owner approval

Eligible projects may include:

• Exterior painting and historic color improvements
• Window and door repair
• Historically appropriate signage
• Awnings
• Boardwalk repairs
• Minor facade detailing and woodwork
• Other non-structural repairs, subject to approval

Paper applications are available for pickup and submission at the Virginia City Visitors Center and 6 Taylor St, Virginia City.

Awards will be announced at the November Mix & Mingle on Nov. 10, 2026, at Piper's Opera House. If you've been thinking about improving your building's historic facade, now is the time to get your application in!
