You have “heard” us talk about For the Song concerts at Red Dog Saloon and Piper’s Opera House the last few issues, but why are we helping to push this concert series when Virginia City saloons already have live music many nights each week? Well, I will tell you. This is not a competition with the other amazing local talent we have on and near the Comstock. This is an extension of a greater cause to bring nationally-touring, critically-acclaimed artists to our area, which many talented musicians often bypass for larger markets. And with new-age streaming services dominating the music industry, many musicians can no longer sustain their art outside their immediate region because of associated costs.
