Storey County Announces Upcoming Waltham Way Railroad Crossing Repairs

Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, Nev. —Storey County is notifying motorists of upcoming repair work at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing on Waltham Way near Wild Horse Canyon Drive. The project is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20, beginning at 5:30 a.m., and will result in temporary traffic impacts throughout the day.

The work will repair a failing slot drain at the railroad crossing. Storey County is coordinating with Sierra Nevada Construction (SNC) and Union Pacific Railroad to complete the project while accommodating railroad operations.

To minimize disruptions, crews will complete the repairs in phases, working on one half of the roadway at a time. Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work area and directed by flaggers. Once work on the first half is complete, traffic will be shifted to allow crews to repair the other half.

Access along Waltham Way will be maintained throughout the project. Storey County will provide traffic flaggers to direct motorists, while Union Pacific Railroad will provide flagging for train traffic.

Motorists should expect temporary lane closures and delays and are encouraged to slow down, follow posted traffic control signs and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

Storey County appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as these necessary repairs are completed.
