Dayton Valley Dog Park (DVDP) kicked off the holiday season in tail-wagging style with its annual Holiday Tree Lighting on Sunday, Dec. 14. Two- and four-legged friends gathered for treats, cheer, and celebration, all while honoring the incredible supporters who helped make 2025 a banner year for the park.

Board of Directors President Linda Bateman shared heartfelt thanks to Cassinelli Landscaping & Construction, the Brown Family Foundation, and devoted park patrons whose generosity made it possible to complete phase one of DVDP’s major projects and repairs in 2025. Even more good news followed: thanks to the Foundation’s continued support, DVDP is officially moving full steam ahead into phase two of improvements in 2026.

“We are truly blessed and humbled by the commitment that has been shown to get this project done,” Bateman said of the 2025 project. “We're pleased to announce that phase two of that project will be commencing and completed in [2026].”

Looking ahead, DVDP plans to stay paws-itively involved in the community throughout the coming year. Highlights include partnering once again with Jodi Giurlani of Curves Dayton for the 8th Annual 5K Walk/Run this fall.

“Regardless as to who curves chooses to benefit in the community, we feel it's important that we continue this partnership and help this 5K event grow and become bigger in the community,” noted Bateman.

The festive evening wrapped up with the lighting of the Christmas tree, as neighbors—both furry and human—lingered to sip hot cocoa and cider, share laughs, and soak in the holiday spirit together.
