Painting Among the Flowers in Dayton, Nevada

Paint your own canvas this Saturday in a scenic outdoor setting. Dayton artist Kristan Wood, a Navy veteran with a bachelor's degree in art education, is offering a painting class among the colorful flowers at Community Roots & Shoots nonprofit nursery.

Instructor Kristan Wood has illustrated children’s books, produced her own tourism magazine, and designed billboards.

Her plein air painting class (French for ‘”painting in the open air”) takes place Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A $10 class fee will include instruction, canvas, use of painting implements, lemonade, and baked treats. The class fee can be given at Community Roots on the day of the class.

Space is limited to 10 seats. To hold your spot, email quest@hcclsc.org.

Please bring a fold out chair, blanket or cushion to sit on.

Community Roots is located at 209 Dayton Valley Rd., Dayton, NV 89403. The nursery offers trees, shrubs, perennials, vegetable starts, annuals, soil amendments, bird feeders and more.
