NV Energy Makes Significant Progress Restoring Service Following Hawk Fire
RENO, Nev. – NV Energy crews continue making significant progress restoring electric service to customers impacted by emergency de-energizations associated with the Hawk Fire.
As of Tuesday evening, approximately 1,275 electric customers remain without power. Since the emergency de-energization began, NV Energy has restored service to nearly 98% of the approximately 60,000 customers who were originally affected.
On Tuesday, crews restored power to all customers north and east of U.S. 395 along with the Bordertown area. Crews will focus restoration efforts overnight in the Raleigh Heights area, where additional customers are expected to be restored Tuesday night.
NV Energy crews continue to repair and replace infrastructure damaged by the fire. Nearly 60 utility poles have now been repaired or replaced, including approximately 40 completed Tuesday. Despite challenging terrain and difficult working conditions, crews continue making steady progress in rebuilding damaged facilities and restoring service to affected communities.
Some customers closest to the fire area remain without power while NV Energy continues coordinating with fire agencies and incident management teams to ensure conditions are safe for restoration. Longer outages may be necessary in areas where equipment sustained extensive damage and repairs are still underway.
The safety of customers, first responders and employees remains NV Energy's highest priority. All restoration activities are being conducted with a focus on safely returning service while supporting ongoing firefighting and recovery efforts.
NV Energy's natural gas team also continues restoration work in impacted areas. Customers returning home who find their gas service is off should contact NV Energy Gas Dispatch at (775) 834-4100 to schedule an appointment. A qualified technician must perform the necessary safety inspections and relight procedures before service can be restored.
While crews continue restoration work, NV Energy is closely monitoring weather forecasts, fire behavior and system conditions. Fire weather conditions are expected to become more challenging later this week, with the potential for increased winds and elevated fire danger across portions of western Nevada. Customers are encouraged to remain aware of local conditions, follow guidance from emergency management officials and prioritize safety as recovery efforts continue.
