Noncomplaint Tier I Sex Offender Arrested in Fernley

Fernley, Nevada – On September 29, 2026, members of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Task Force contacted Joel Sanchez, 39, of Fernley, a Tier I registered sex offender.

During the contact, SOTF members determined Sanchez was out of compliance with Nevada’s sex offender registration requirements after failing to complete a required verification by his designated verification date.

Sanchez was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lyon County Jail. He was booked on one felony count of Violation of Sex Offender Registration. Bail was set at $5,000.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding violations of Nevada’s sex offender registration requirements. The Sex Offender Task Force conducts ongoing compliance enforcement throughout Lyon County to ensure registered sex offenders are meeting their statutory registration requirements.
