Local Business Focus: COUNTRY Financial Dayton

No one wants to plan for worst-case scenarios in life. However, when tragedy strikes and the event takes an emotional and financial toll, you want to have someone in your corner that will help make sure you have a solid plan. That is precisely what COUNTRY Financial Insurance Agent Sarah Schembri offers.
“There are going to be those tragedies that are going to happen and it’s my job to be there for that,” Schembri stated.
Schembri works with English and Spanish speaking clients on their home, auto, business and life insurance needs. She is on a mission to educate and empower families about their coverage options, taking the time to break everything down, explain how different policies work, what they do and don’t cover, and not just blindly send you proof of insurance.
Life insurance, specifically, has become a passion for Schembri after her own family tragedy. When her grandmother passed away in 2015, the life insurance policy in place helped Schembri’s grandfather pay off some debts and stay out of home foreclosure.
“Helping people to understand their coverage and just know that on the worst day, we’re going to be here to provide whatever type of financial assistance to pay the claim,” Schembri said.
Schembri’s husband Robb, who is also an agent, focuses on their farm and commercial clients but is also starting to help on the life insurance side. Between the two, they have 25 years of experience and can help anyone with their insurance needs.
The couple grew up in Reno but moved their family to Dayton in 2020. They are raising two children here (plus two dogs) and are proud to be part of this community.
“I wanted my kids to be able to play in the dirt and play outside and go on adventures,” Schembri said. “I just think it’s important to have that sense of community, we’re all just trying our best to make a living and stick together with our families to get through life.”
The duo is blending professional expertise with small-town heart to ensure Nevada families are protected when it matters most. And when life takes an unexpected turn, clients can rely on Schembri and her husband to guide them through the storm.
Schembri mentioned one such client, a younger woman who lost her husband last year and, “having the insurance is what allowed her the time to grieve and not have to worry about going to work on Monday – that insurance also allowed her the piece of mind to know she’s not going to lose her assets because of something unexpected happening.”
Schembri is licensed to serve all of Nevada, as well as Arizona and Washington. While the couple has clients as far away as Elko and Dyer, they would love to serve more clients from the Dayton, Stagecoach and Silver Springs areas. They have also helped many local residents with manufactured home coverage—often a challenge in rural communities.
Outside the office, you will find them at local events like the Chili Cook-Off, RE/MAX Wine Walk, Kids Day in the Park, Dayton Valley Days and Trunk or Treat—often with fun giveaways or raffle prizes in hand. And, of course, their annual “Say Hi, Get a Pie” Thanksgiving pie giveaway.
“It’s a great way to get our name out, but really, it’s a way to give back and enjoy bits and pieces of the community too,” Schembri explained. “We’re a little mom-and-pop shop, family-owned and run. We want to be here and we live here so when people chose to do business with us, it does affect Dayton’s economy – it’s helping us grow and then we’re able to give back more.”
