LCSO employee under criminal investigation

Lyon County Community,

On March 19, 2026, at approximately 7:04 p.m., Sparks Police Department, contacted me in relation to a criminal investigation, of a sworn employee of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. After being made aware of the investigation, myself and other members of the Command Staff contacted the individual under investigation and immediately placed them on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.

Nevada's Peace Officer Bill of Rights (NRS Chapter 289) provides strict confidentiality during investigations into officer misconduct. Pursuant to NRS 289, I am not allowed to release further information into the internal investigation.

In order to not interfere with the Sparks Police Department’s Criminal Investigation, any further information into the criminal investigation will come from the Sparks Police Department.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will fully cooperate with the Sparks Police Department and their investigation into this criminal matter.

Respectfully,
Sheriff Brad Pope
