For the Song Summer Series Brings Tae & The Neighborly to ArrowCreek and Virginia City

Reno, NV – May 28, 2026 – The Red Dog Saloon will host TAE & The Neighborly on July 11th as part of the For the Song Summer Series, bringing the Wisconsin-based soul-pop and R&B group into one of the most storied live music rooms in the American West. The Danny Horton Trio will open the show – with a voice that blends the heart of Chris Stapleton with the edge of Johnny Cash.

The performance follows a July 10th appearance for Tae and the Neighborly at The Club at ArrowCreek, continuing For the Song’s regional artist-support model that helps nationally touring musicians build sustainable multi-show runs across Northern Nevada.

For the Red Dog, the performance represents another chapter in a venue whose musical history stretches back to the origins of psychedelic rock itself. The Virginia City saloon became nationally known during the mid-1960s as home to what became known as “The Red Dog Experience,” hosting early performances by artists connected to the birth of the San Francisco psychedelic scene, including The Charlatans, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Je erson Airplane, and Quicksilver Messenger Service.

Today, under the ownership of Loren and Sue Pursel, the Red Dog continues operating as both a community gathering place and an active live music venue with deep ties to original songwriting and touring artists. Through collaborations with For the Song, the venue has hosted performances by John Fullbright, Walt Wilkins, Rose's Pawn Shop, and Jimbo Scott.

“The Red Dog has always been about authenticity,” said Loren Pursel, owner of the Red Dog Saloon. “The room responds to artists who mean what they’re playing, and Tae & The Neighborly absolutely fit that tradition. There’s soul in what they do, and people feel it immediately.”

TAE & The Neighborly has emerged as one of the more exciting young bands currently touring the independent circuit, blending modern soul, R&B, indie-pop, groove-heavy rhythm sections, and emotionally direct songwriting into performances that feel both loose and deeply connected.

Iowa PBS described the group as: “soul-pop and R&B with messages of self-love and community roots,” while highlighting Tae Popour’s “captivating vocal delivery.”

The young band has already appeared on stages around the country including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Millennium Stage in Washington, DC and the Rhythm & Roots Festival in Charlestown Rhode Island among a set of regional festivals.

What makes the group memorable is that they do not approach soul music as nostalgia or revivalism. Their performances carry modern indie-pop textures, groove-based R&B, and a communal, almost gospel-like emotional lift that tends to pull audiences together as the evening unfolds.
