Criminal Conviction

On Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, in the First Judicial District Court in Storey County, Nevada, Haydn Lothar Thelusma was sentenced to 20 years in the Nevada Department of Corrections for the exploitation of an elderly person by Judge Kristin Luis.

Twenty-five-year-old Thelusma, plead guilty to the crime which involved other co-defendants based out of Florida that involved the targeting of a 71-year-old victim and her husband for $200,000.

Storey County detectives discovered during their investigation that Thelusma and others were falsely posing as FBI and CIA agents and bank officials to convince senior citizens to transfer money to them.

In this case, Thelusma and others went to the victim's home and were provided large sumd of cash.

Further investigation revealed this group has targeted seniors in several states. Storey County detectives are working with police agencies in those jurisdictions to help hold these suspects accountable for any crimes they may have committed elsewhere.

Some of the remaining co-defendants who were involved in this scam are in custody and awaiting adjudication of their cases in Storey County.
