Students in Lyon County School District enjoyed a two-day celebrity chef experience with Chef Michael Toscano as part of the Chartwells K12 Global Eats program!

At Silverland Middle School on April 28, Chef Toscano led an interactive classroom demonstration, introducing students to authentic Italian cuisine, focusing on fresh ingredients and global sourcing. He walked students through how pasta is made, explained the impact ingredients have around the world, and demonstrated a classic Roman dish, Cacio e Pepe. Students had the opportunity to engage directly, ask questions, and gain real-world culinary insight in an intimate learning environment.

Chef Toscano also stopped by the school’s coffee shop, where he shared his expertise as a coffee shop owner. He guided students and staff on dialing espresso machines, refining techniques, and implementing best practices, adding a valuable, real-world layer to their culinary and hospitality education.

At Fernley High School on April 29, the energy scaled up with over 250 students in attendance. Chef Toscano performed a live demonstration featuring a fresh Caprese sandwich while continuing to highlight Global Eats: Italy. He maintained strong engagement with students, sharing knowledge about ingredients, sourcing, and culinary techniques, while also taking time to connect personally by signing Global Eats merchandise and creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Overall, the events successfully combined culinary education, cultural exploration, and student engagement, bringing global cuisine to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
