Virginia City rolled up its sleeves and got to work during the May 6 afternoon Beautification Day, as business owners and community members traded everyday clothes for paint shirts, work gloves, and plenty of elbow grease.

The Storey County Chamber of Commerce community cleanup effort gave historic C Street a much-needed refresh. Volunteers tackled everything from power washing the boardwalk and adding fresh coats of paint to planting colorful flowers that now brighten the town’s iconic streetscape.

The project came together thanks to generous monetary and in-kind donations from Moana Nursery, Sherwin-Williams, Dunn-Edwards Paints, and local Virginia City businesses. Organizers said the event would not have been possible without the dedicated volunteers who showed up ready to make Virginia City sparkle just in time for the busy season ahead.
