On Tuesday, June 17, Lyon County Human Services (LCHS) hosted more than 35 vendors at Mark Twain Park in Dayton for the annual “Kids Day in the Park” event. Parents and children were able to meet businesses and discover area services, participate in hands-on activities and collect goodies from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Division Manager of Lyon County Human Services Children’s Services Jenna Dykes said the event was introduced in 2018 for WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program families and it has now grown into an event for the whole community to learn about family-related services. The affair has become so well-attended that they moved from Kay Winters Park to Mark Twain Park to provide more space for vendors and attendees.

LCHS provides this event annually in Dayton, Yerington, Fernley and Silver Springs. The last two 2025 events will be June 26 at Out of Town Park in Fernley and June 27 at Penny Park in Silver Springs, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. both days.
