A Weekend of Living History

Virginia City stepped back in time over Labor Day weekend as Heritage Civil War Days and Battle Trains returned to the Comstock, bringing history to life through the dedication of dozens of volunteer reenactors and the enthusiasm of visitors from near and far.

Throughout the weekend, the Comstock Civil War Reenactors shared living history with students, families, and history buffs alike, allowing guests to experience dramatic battles along the V&T Railroad route, engage with period life at the Miner's Park encampment, take part in a traditional High Tea, and more.

On Monday, spectators lining C Street witnessed an intense robbery at the Bucket of Blood Saloon that turned into a clash between Union and Confederate soldiers. Once the dust settled, the Labor Day Parade capped off the weekend activities, honoring the American workforce and welcoming Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo and Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony as parade participants.

From school-day educational activities to action-packed battle reenactments, the annual event once again showcased the passion of its volunteer actors and the community’s commitment to preserving and sharing history.
