What Happened in Vegas Should Have Stayed in Vegas...
Yes we have K9s that detect drugs in Storey County… but when we turn Deputy Lawrence loose we find all sorts of illegal activity. Tenacity runs strong in Storey County.
This story is short and sweet. If you’re going to a rave in Vegas don’t bring your drugs through Storey County.
On May 14, 2026 Deputy Lawrence conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on USA Parkway in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. The driver of the vehicle was extremely nervous and visibly shaking. After reasonable suspicion was developed, a consensual search of the vehicle was granted by the driver.
Deputy Lawrence located a lot of bad stuff…Psilocybin mushrooms, suspected Cocaine, suspected Ketamine, 2CB Phenethylamine, Adderall pills, MDMA pills, THC gummies, 4 bottles of "jungle juice" (inhalant), suspected LSD, a digital scale, multiple plastic baggies, other usual drug paraphernalia…and tickets to a rave festival (someone’s party is over).
The driver of the vehicle, Alejandro Vargas of Sparks, Nevada, was placed under arrest and transported to the Storey County Detention Facility on the following charges:
-NRS 453.321.2A Sell, transport, give, or attempt to sell, transport, or give schedule I or II controlled substance, 1st offense
-NRS 453.336.2C Possess schedule I or II controlled substance, 14g or more but less than 28g
-NRS 453.336.2A Possess schedule I or II controlled substance, less than 14g, 1st or 2nd offense
-NRS 453.336.2A Possess schedule III, IV, or V controlled substance, less than 28g, 1st or 2nd offense
-NRS 453.336.5 Possess marijuana more than 1oz less than 50lbs, more than 1/8oz less than 1lb concentrate
-NRS 453.566 Use or possess drug paraphernalia
…and no, you can’t have the tickets to the festival.
