Voter Registration Deadline Approaching for May 23 Early Voting and June 9 Primary Election

The deadline to register to vote for the June 9, 2026, Primary Election is approaching, and the Storey County Clerk’s Office is encouraging residents to confirm their voter registration information ahead of the election.

The last day a person may register to vote by mail and by personal appearance is May 12, 2026 (must be postmarked by this date).

Voter registration allows residents to participate in the upcoming primary election, which will determine which candidates advance to the General Election later this year.

Residents are encouraged to verify their voter registration status, party affiliation, and contact information before the election. Voters may contact the Clerk’s Office at 775-847-0969 or email elections@storeycounty.org for assistance.

Registration information may also be checked online through the voter search tool provided by the Nevada Secretary of State at: www.nvsos.gov/votersearch

How Mail Ballots Work

Voters may complete their ballot at home and return it in one of three ways:• Mail it using the provided postage-paid envelope
• Drop it off at the Clerk & Treasurer’s Office:
                26 S. B Street (2nd Floor, Drawer D), Virginia City, NV 89440
• Drop it off at any polling location during voting hours

Mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, June 9, to be counted.

Early Voting | Saturday, May 23 to June 5, 2026*Voters who prefer to cast their ballot in person before Election Day may participate in early voting.

Early voting will take place at:

• Lockwood Senior Center 800 Peri Ranch Road, Lockwood, NV 89434
• Storey County Slammer Museum 26 S. B Street, Virginia City, NV 89440

Early voting dates:

  • Lockwood Senior Center: May 23 & 30 (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
  • Storey County Slammer Museum:
    • May 23 (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
    • May 26 – 29 (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
    • May 30 (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
    • June 1 – 5 (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

*Note: There will be no early voting on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day

Polls will be open from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
