Virginia City’s C Street vies for USA TODAY 10BEST Best Main Street title
Virginia City, Nev. – Virginia City has once again been nominated for Best Main Street in the USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards. Chosen by editors and a panel of subject matter experts, the nomination places the town’s historic C Street among notable Main Streets across the country. The community is encouraged to cast their votes to help C Street secure its place as the nation’s top Main Street.
Voting opens Monday, March 9, at 9 a.m. PST and runs through Monday, April 6, at 8:59 a.m. PST. To vote, visit the link HERE.
Virginia City received national recognition in the 2025 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards with nominations for Best Main Street as well as Best Cultural Festival for the annual World Championship Outhouse Races. The continued acknowledgment highlights the town’s enduring appeal and its ability to blend history with signature events that draw visitors from across the country.
“Being nominated again speaks to the authenticity of C Street and the businesses that keep this town thriving,” said Todd Tuttle, Virginia City tourism director. “We are grateful for the recognition and would be honored to represent Nevada as one of the best Main Streets in the nation. We encourage everyone to spread the word, cast a vote each day and help showcase what makes Virginia City so special.”
As the center of the historic Comstock Lode, C Street offers an authentic glimpse into Nevada’s mining era. Original 19th-century buildings remain in active use, housing locally owned shops, restaurants and saloons that continue to serve residents and visitors. Recognition in the Top 10 would highlight the community’s ongoing commitment to preserving its history while keeping C Street active and relevant today. Supporters are encouraged to vote daily and share the link throughout the voting period.
