Veterans Day on the Comstock
This week, the Comstock stands in gratitude for the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform. Veterans Day is not only a date on the calendar—it is a living reminder of courage, discipline, and devotion that has safeguarded the freedoms we often take for granted.
Across our communities—from Dayton to Virginia City, from the quiet neighborhoods to the open ranges—veterans live among us as neighbors, mentors, and family. Some served in distant wars decades ago; others have only recently returned home. Each carries stories that deserve our attention—stories of duty fulfilled, hardship endured, and comrades remembered.
The Comstock’s strength has always rested in its people, and among them, none
embody that strength more fully than those who have served. Their commitment
extends beyond battlefields and bases—it’s seen in volunteering, in classrooms, and in the steady hands that keep this region moving forward.
This week, take a moment to thank a veteran, to listen, or simply to remember. Freedom is not self-sustaining—it is protected, again and again, by those willing to bear its cost.
To all who have served, and to those who still do—the Comstock remembers you, honors you, and thanks you.
