The Nevada Division of Transportation (NDOT) is currently completing the final design phase for roadway improvements, with construction scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026. The U.S. Highway 50 East of Dayton Preservation Project aims to rehabilitate a segment of highway that stretches approximately 5.7 miles, from just east of Fortune Drive to 500 feet east of Chaves Road in Lyon County. This project includes pavement preservation, drainage enhancements, and traffic safety improvements, such as median installation and access modifications. Additionally, two new traffic signals will be installed at the intersections of Cardelli Road/River Boat Road and Six Mile Canyon Road, along with improved signage and new roadway striping.
