Train vs Vehicle Collision in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center

STOREY COUNTY, NV – On July 28, 2025 – at approximately 4:07pm, Storey County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a report of a collision between a train and a vehicle in the area of Waltham Way and Wild Horse Canyon Drive in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a single vehicle with heavy damage approximately 200 feet east of Waltham Way, next to a stopped train. The solo occupant and driver of the vehicle was located with injuries. Care Flight was requested and the driver was transported to an area hospital, where he was placed into the Intensive Care Unit with non life threatening injuries.

Upon investigation and speaking with multiple witnesses, it was determined the driver of the involved vehicle had been stuck in heavy traffic when he stopped his vehicle on the tracks. During that time, the railroad guards were activated and lowered, along with warning lights and bells. The driver was unable to move his vehicle and it was struck by the train.

No injuries were reported on the train and staff were cooperative.
