Texas Songwriting Legend Walt Wilkins & The Ramble Come to Virginia City AT the Red Dog Saloon Stage on August 2nd

Press Release - VIRGINIA CITY, NV — July 15, 2025 — The VC Live Summer Music Series continues as Walt Wilkins — a revered figure in Americana and Texas roots music — brings his full band, The Ramble, for a powerful night of rock, story, sound, and soul. Known for his lyrical depth, magnetic stage presence, and genuine connection to audiences, Wilkins has been called “a songwriter’s songwriter” and a spiritual heir to Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt. Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel noted, “There’s maybe no one that’s been a greater influence on this generation of Texas songwriters than Walt Wilkins.”
The Ramble began when Austin legends John Chipman, Scrappy Jud Newcomb & Ron Flynt began sitting in with WW at the world-renowned Saxon Pub in Austin, in 2022. The chemistry was instant, and deep. Recorded in 2024, their record “Through the Stars” has already led to opportunities to play all over the US. Chipman, Scrappy & Flynt are all highly acclaimed musicians/performers with many credits, in Austin and way beyond. They’ve all traveled the world and played with some of the greatest performers alive. On this trip, The Ramble is accompanied by Tina Mitchell Wilkins, who has also has garnered performing & recording credits in Los Angeles, Nashville & Austin.
