Temporary Chemical Odor in East Yerington Due to Agriculture Application

Yerington, Nevada – At approximately 5:00 PM, Lyon County Emergency Management and Yerington/Mason Valley Fire Protection District were notified of temporary air quality issues in the area of Pete Henrichs Road and East 95A following the application of agricultural chemicals in a nearby field.
Monitoring indicates a temporary increase in odor that may cause skin irritation, eye irritation, and respiratory discomfort for some individuals. The odor does not pose a risk to the general public and should dissipate shortly. Please do not call 911 to report the odor.
The agricultural application was conducted as part of routine operations. Authorities are working with the agricultural operators to monitor the situation closely.
