Student Arrested After Threat to Bring Firearm to Silver Stage High School

Silver Springs, NV – On October 17, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a threat made by a student to bring a firearm to Silver Stage High School for the purpose of using it against fellow students.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer assigned to Silver Stage High School immediately responded and initiated an investigation. As a result of the investigation the student, who is 18 years old, was taken into custody and transported to the Lyon County Jail.

At this time, there is no ongoing threat to students, staff, or the community. The Sheriff’s Office commends the prompt actions of the School Resource Officer and the cooperation of Silver Stage High School administration and the Lyon County School District in maintaining the safety of students and staff.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office stresses that threats to bring weapons or commit acts of violence at any Lyon County school are crimes and will be dealt with swiftly and severely. This is the second incident of this nature in as many days, and the Sheriff’s Office will continue to maintain a zero-tolerance stance toward any
threats of school violence.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to ensuring the safety of all schools within Lyon County through proactive enforcement, education, and partnership with the Lyon County School District. Threats of violence—particularly those involving firearms—will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly to the fullest extent of the law.
