Storey County Candidate Barbecue 2026
On Sunday, April 19, Bob and Lisa Holleman will host another Open Candidate Barbecue for the northern end of Storey County – Lockwood, Painted Rock, and the River District. This free event at Louise Peri Park (800 Peri Ranch Rd., Lockwood, NV 89434) is a way to bring political candidates of all parties to meet the residents of this area prior to the June primary elections.
There will be shade throughout the venue for dining and a limited number of picnic tables, chairs, etc. There is an alternate indoor facility arranged should the weather be rainy.
"Our goal here is not for each candidate to set up an individual booth, but rather have the candidates get out and mingle/meet their voters one on one," stated Lisa Holleman. "This is a small town 'meet the people' barbecue. The venue is outdoors in a beautiful park and weather is usually wonderful."
The past four events have attracted 300-400 attendees, providing an excellent opportunity to engage with fellow community members as well as the candidates.

Candidates will not be given presentation time nor specific booth space and are not allowed to sponsor or support this event except with a donated raffle prize and/or a dessert to share. All candidates are allowed to bring campaign materials to share with the public.
