State Route 342 Reopens; Gold Hill Fire Fully Contained

Gold Hill, Nev. – State Route 342 is now open to all motorists following the successful containment of the Gold Hill Fire.
The fire was 100% contained and controlled after burning an estimated 4.08 acres. The acreage was revised from the initial estimate of 21.2 acres following improved mapping and assessment by fire officials.
No structures were damaged or lost, and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire was determined to be unfounded.
Storey County thanks residents, motorists and visitors for their patience and cooperation throughout the incident. The county also extends its gratitude to all responding agencies, including Wildland Fire Service, U.S. Forest Service – Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Nevada Division of Forestry, Central Lyon Fire, Nevada Highway Patrol, Storey County Sheriff's Office, and Storey County Fire Protection District. Special thanks are also extended to the aerial firefighting crews whose critical overhead support helped bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
Storey County appreciates the swift, coordinated efforts of all first responders and partner agencies who worked together to protect the community.
Gold Hill Fire 100% Contained; State Route 342 Expected to Reopen This Evening at 6 PM
Gold Hill, Nev. – The Gold Hill Fire is now 100% contained and controlled. State Route 342 remains closed in both directions from the bottom of the Truck Route to Toll Road while crews complete final operations. The roadway is expected to reopen at approximately 6 p.m. this evening.
The fire burned an estimated 4.08 acres. The acreage was revised from the initial estimate of 21.2 acres following improved mapping and assessment by fire officials.

Evacuation orders for Gold Hill were lifted earlier today at approximately 12:25 PM after firefighters made significant progress containing the fire.

Gold Hill, Nev. – The Gold Hill Fire is currently 80 percent contained.
State Route 342 remains closed in both directions from the bottom of the Truck Route to Toll Road while crews continue operations in the area. The closure will remain in place for several hours.

Gold Hill Fire Reduced to 4 Acres, 60% Contained; Acreage Revised From Initial Estimate
Gold Hill, Nev. — The Gold Hill fire is currently estimated at 4.0 acres and is 60 percent contained.
This is a revision from the initial estimate of 21.2 acres. Fire officials have updated the total acreage following improved mapping and assessment on scene.
No structures were damaged or lost, and there are no reported injuries. The cause of the fire has been determined to be unfounded.
