St. Mary's Art Center Opens Its Historic Doors for a Halloween Sleepover and Paranormal Investigation

VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. (Oct. 1, 2026) – St. Mary's Art Center will host its annual Halloween Sleepover and Investigation on Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, inviting guests to explore the history and mystery of one of Northern Nevada's most storied buildings after dark. Led by Women Investigating Ghost Sightings (W.I.G.S.), the overnight experience takes place inside the historic 1876 property that has served as a hub for art, history and community in Virginia City since 1964.

Originally built as a hospital, St. Mary's Art Center holds more than a century of stories within its walls. The Halloween Sleepover offers guests a rare opportunity to learn about the people and events that shaped the site while taking part in a paranormal investigation under the cover of night.

"St. Mary's is one of the most fascinating places we've had the chance to investigate, and Halloween is the perfect time to invite guests inside to experience its history firsthand," said Paula Burris, founder of W.I.G.S. "Every ticket also supports the restoration and preservation of this building, so guests are helping protect its story for future generations while they explore it."

Guest rooms are available on a per-night basis, with single, double twin, and double full options starting at $192.50 per night. Room stays  include event admission for one night only. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is at 11 a.m. Ticket sales close Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. Contact Paula Burris at tours@stmarysartcenter.org with any questions.

Bottled water and coffee will be provided throughout the event, and guests are welcome to bring their own snacks and meals. The Halloween Sleepover and Investigation is an alcohol-free event open to guests ages 13 and older. One hundred percent of ticket proceeds support the restoration and preservation of the historic property.
