Silver Springs Man Arrested Following Vehicle Pursuit with Lyon County Deputies

Silver Springs, Nevada – On March 17, 2026, at approximately 1:45 p.m., deputies assigned to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Central Command Patrol attempted to stop a reckless driver in the area of Idaho Street and U.S. Highway 95A in Silver Springs.

The driver failed to yield and fled from deputies, initiating a lengthy vehicle pursuit through the Silver Springs area. Deputies from the Central, Western, and Northern Command Patrol areas responded to assist, along with members of the Investigations Division.

During the pursuit, the suspect drove in a reckless manner that endangered other motorists, forcing vehicles off the roadway and nearly causing several high-speed traffic collisions.

The suspect eventually stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies quickly established a perimeter, and the suspect was located and taken into custody in the 7500 block of Sycamore Street.

The driver was identified as Troy Nelson, age 40, of Silver Springs.

Following Nelson’s arrest, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office K9 Kilo was deployed and conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle, providing a positive alert for the presence of controlled substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of suspected methamphetamine.

Nelson was transported to the Lyon County Jail and booked on the following charges:
 Reckless Driving
 Felony Eluding a Peace Officer
 Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
 Destruction of Evidence
 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Nelson’s total bail was at $31,140.00. This incident remains under investigation.
