Sheriff Brad Pope Announces Re-Election Campaign for Lyon County Sheriff

Yerington, NV — Lyon County Sheriff Brad Pope has officially announced his candidacy for re-election in the 2026 election, seeking a second term as Sheriff. Sheriff Pope expressed pride in the progress made under his leadership and enthusiasm for continuing to serve the residents of Lyon County.
"I am proud of what we have accomplished together during my first term. The men and women of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office have worked tirelessly to make our communities safer, more engaged, and better served. I look forward to building on this foundation of progress in a second term."
During his first term, Sheriff Pope’s leadership has resulted in numerous achievements, including:
· Substantially reduced response times — with certain priority calls cut by as much as 300%.
· More than a 100% increase in traffic stops.
· Expansion of the School Resource Officer Program, growing from 3 deputies to 5, including a supervisor.
· Restoration of full staffing levels, overcoming a deficit of more than 20 positions at the start of his term.
· Increased patrol presence.
· Greater community engagement, transparency, and communication.
· Higher arrest and booking rates, and the reinstatement of inmate work crews.
· Enhanced efficiency within patrol squads through structural reorganization.
· Significant drug enforcement results, with pounds of controlled substances removed from county streets.
· A significant reduction in crimes committed in Lyon County
In addition to these accomplishments, Sheriff Pope has advanced his professional development, earning:
· A Master of Science in Leadership and Management (2024)
· A Management Certificate from the Nevada Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) (2025)
· An Executive Certificate from Nevada POST — the highest level of certification attainable (2025)
