Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Registration Violation Following Traffic Stop

Silver Springs, Nev. — On July 13, 2026, at approximately 6:40 p.m., deputies assigned to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Central Command conducted a traffic stop on an unregistered vehicle in the Silver Springs area.

During the traffic stop, deputies identified the driver as Jeffrey Martin, 69, of Silver Springs, a registered Tier III sex offender.

Deputies requested the assistance of members of the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Task Force, who conducted a registration compliance investigation. The investigation determined that Martin was in violation of Nevada's sex offender registration requirements for failing to update his registration as required by
law.

Martin was arrested without incident and booked into the Lyon County Jail on one count of Violation of Sex Offender Registration Requirements.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Task Force is committed to ensuring that all registered sex offenders in Lyon County comply with their legal obligations. The Task Force conducts routine compliance checks to verify registration adherence, reinforcing its dedication to public safety. These proactive efforts play a crucial role in protecting Lyon County residents and maintaining community well-being.

The mission of the Task Force is to ensure 100% compliance among registered sex offenders in Lyon County. For those who choose not to meet their legal obligations, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office will take swift and decisive action to hold them accountable.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office encourages community members to report any concerns or suspicious activity regarding sex offender compliance. Together, law enforcement and the community can continue to promote safety and accountability throughout Lyon County.
