RENO, Nev – Open Enrollment begins this week for the state’s Medicaid Managed Care program. For the first time, this includes more than 70,000 rural Nevadans enrolled in Medicaid who will soon receive a letter in the mail asking them to choose a new Medicaid Managed Care health plan. This statewide Medicaid Open Enrollment also includes more than 700,000 Nevadans who live in Clark and Washoe Counties.
Nevada Medicaid members who are eligible for Open Enrollment are encouraged to make their new health plan selections no later than Dec. 26, 2025. Members should update their addresses to receive important information about the process and their new health plan options.
“At Nevada Medicaid, we are excited to offer rural Nevadans enrolled in Medicaid a better experience in accessing health care with this statewide expansion of our Medicaid Managed Care program,” said Nevada Medicaid Administrator Ann Jensen. “This expansion is intended to improve Medicaid services, ensure good stewardship of taxpayer funding, and ultimately help Nevada be a healthier statewide.”
Two plans, CareSource and SilverSummit, were selected through a competitive bidding process to serve Nevada’s rural counties. In addition to standard requirements, these two plans are required to focus on increasing access to preventive health by offering new member incentives, meeting new appointment wait time standards, improving non-emergency medical transportation, and expanding the number of providers serving rural Nevadans enrolled in Medicaid.
Coverage under the new Medicaid health plans will be effective on Jan. 1, 2026. During this transition to the new plans, members should not experience any disruption in their access to care or medications. They can continue to visit the same doctors, pharmacies, hospitals, and providers as usual.
When selecting a plan for coverage, members are encouraged to carefully review each plan’s available network online if they wish to keep certain providers. They can also reach out to their doctors and providers to ensure that they are in the plan’s network. These new plans will also offer their members access to new, no-cost services, including housing support, childcare assistance, home-delivered meals, online fitness memberships, Boys & Girls Club memberships, childcare seats, diapers, and more. More information about what each plan offers will be available through the materials that members will receive in the mail. Plan selections will take effect on Jan. 1, 2026.
Urban residents of the state will have more than two health plan choices. In urban Washoe County, they can choose from Anthem, CareSource, Molina, and SilverSummit. In urban Clark County, Nevadans can choose from Anthem, CareSource, Molina, SilverSummit, and Health Plan of Nevada.
