Murder-Suicide in Dayton
On June 14, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call on the Non-Emergency Line from a male subject reporting a deceased female at a residence in the 100 block of Alamosa Street in Dayton. The caller provided the female’s name and stated the incident was a “187,” a slang term commonly used to describe a homicide.
Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies from the Western Command responded to the residence and conducted a protective sweep. Inside the home, they located a deceased female, who appeared to be the victim of a homicide.The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, Major Crimes Unit along, with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Investigative Section, responded to the scene to conduct a full investigation. Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified the male caller as a resident of the home shared with the deceased female. Using cell phone location data, the male was located in a remote area of Alpine County, California. Detectives contacted the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office and requested assistance in locating him.
At approximately 5:00 PM, the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office advised they had located the male subject deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. This case is currently being investigated as a murder-suicide. The identities of the individuals involved are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. At this time, there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
