Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Shooting in Fernley

January 7, 2026

Fernley, NV – At approximately 6:48 p.m. on Jan. 7, 2026, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting in the parking lot in front of Steve’s Homemade Ice Cream, located in the Fernley Village Marketplace.

Deputies from the Northern Command Patrol Area responded and upon arrival, located one adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

A suspect was identified, detained, and later placed under arrest.

Personnel from the North Lyon Fire Protection District arrived and immediately began providing medical care to the victim. The victim was subsequently transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by CareFlight.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division has responded and will be conducting the investigation. There is no current threat to the public.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and the information provided is preliminary. Additional updates will be released in a timely manner.
