Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Announces “Drive Safe Lyon County” Traffic Safety Initiative

Yerington, NV — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the Drive Safe Lyon County campaign, a comprehensive, data-driven traffic safety initiative aimed at reducing fatal and serious-injury crashes across Lyon County.
The campaign reflects the Sheriff’s Office commitment to improving roadway safety and addressing dangerous driving behaviors that contribute to severe crashes, including excessive speed and impaired driving. The initiative will focus on high-risk corridors identified through crash data analysis, including major routes serving Fernley, Dayton, and Silver Springs.
The Drive Safe Lyon County campaign is the result of ongoing analysis, planning, and coordination conducted over time to ensure a strategic and sustainable approach to traffic safety. This initiative builds on continued efforts by the Sheriff’s Office to evaluate roadway trends and proactively deploy resources where they can have the greatest impact.
“The safety of our community is our top priority,” said Sheriff Brad Pope. “Through the Drive Safe Lyon County campaign, we are committed to reducing fatal and serious-injury crashes and achieving measurable reductions over the next five years through targeted enforcement, education, and community engagement.”
The Drive Safe Lyon County campaign has been developed as a coordinated strategy that will combine high visibility enforcement, public education, and community outreach. Planned activities include targeted enforcement operations in high-risk areas, participation in community events, and educational initiatives designed to promote safer driving behaviors.
Full implementation of the Drive Safe Lyon County campaign is contingent upon grant funding currently being pursued by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. Upon award, the program will be implemented to ensure resources are strategically deployed to the areas of greatest need.
