Lyon County School District No Ongoing Threat To Public
As of now, The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public, schools, or staff members.
On the evening of October 1, 2025, at approximately 1800 hours, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a serious threat made by a student at Dayton Intermediate School. The student's message to peers and staff was to “not come to school tomorrow,” insinuating a potential school shooting.
In a swift response, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, working alongside the Lyon County School District, identified and confronted the student involved. Upon questioning, the student confirmed the threatening remarks. Actions were taken to arrest the student on charges of making threats to a school, which caused significant panic and civil unrest within the community.
As of now, The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public, schools, or staff members. The safety and security of all students and staff remain a paramount concern, and measures are in place to ensure a secure environment.
The investigation into this matter is active, with several juvenile witnesses involved. Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the ages of those involved, further details cannot be disclosed at this time.
