Lyon County Hosts Code Enforcement Workshop ― March 16, 2026

Lyon County Hosts Code Enforcement Workshop ― March 16, 2026

Yerington, Nevada – On Monday, March 16, 2026, the Lyon County Board of County Commissioners hosted a Code Enforcement Workshop to review a new draft of the Code Enforcement Ordinance as well as a workshop on the existing Lyon County building permit application, review, & issuance process.

Code enforcement inspects and enforces the Lyon County Code as it applies to public nuisances, improper use of property zoning, illegal connection to or lack of utilities, construction without building permits, and other public safety issues. The County’s code enforcement policy is to achieve voluntary compliance with reported and discovered code violations. Lyon County Code Enforcement opens and closes approximately 30 cases every month with a typical closure rate of 80%. At any specific point in time, approximately 200 cases are active.

The board also received a presentation and discussed the current Lyon County building permit application, review, and issuance process. The discussion focused on potential policy direction to improve efficiency and support County staff and the building community.

Lyon County Community Development will utilize the information and feedback shared during the March 16th workshop to update the proposed ordinance and present draft language to the Board of County Commissioners for possible adoption.
