Lockwood Senior Community Center Receives Regional Recognition from American Society of Civil Engineers
The Lockwood Senior Community Center has received regional recognition from the American Society of Civil Engineers, selected as one of the top two projects in the Civil/Structural category.
Located in Lockwood, the 8,506-square-foot facility was designed as a multi-use community hub, bringing together Senior Services, the Food Pantry, Canyon GID, and Early Childhood Development under one roof to serve residents of all ages.
The building also features an activity room designed to encourage interaction between seniors and young children and was carefully planned to integrate with the surrounding park and hillside.
“This center was built with the community in mind,” said Stacy York, Director of Health & Community Services for Storey County. “It provides a welcoming space for seniors to gather, access services, and stay connected, while also creating opportunities for intergenerational programs that bring families together. Projects like this take strong partnerships and thoughtful design, and we’re proud of the team that made it a reality.”
Michael Northan, project manager, added, “This recognition puts Storey County on the map as a driver of regional development. It reflects the high-quality, high-capability team we have here in Storey County.”
The Lockwood Senior Community Center is a lasting example of collaboration and planning, creating a space where residents of all ages can connect, access services, and thrive.
