What started as one mom’s search for a creative outlet and safe bath products for her kids has turned into a glitter-filled family business. Inside their cozy home studio in Dayton, Jamie Wyatt and Shane Sanemeterio have built Zap Family Creations, a place where handmade tumblers, natural bath products, and personalized gifts all share one thing in common — they are made with love, laughter, and a little bit of sparkle.

Wyatt’s journey to business ownership was not a straight path, but her path has always involved artistic endeavors.

“I grew up really close to my grandma and she was super crafty,” she said. “I just kind of fell in love with being creative and she gave us that outlet – she always gave us something crafty to do.”

Wyatt is a third generation Nevadan. She was born in Florida during her dad’s Air Force service, but came to Dayton in the early ‘90s. As an adult, she moved away for a short time to serve in the U.S. Army, but returned in 2011 to be a stay-at-home mom and advocate for her oldest son with medical needs. As a mom of three, she has always enjoyed finding new and creative ways to have fun with her kiddos and express herself. In 2020, as a new creative project, Wyatt started making vinyl decals for cups and had people asking about purchasing her creations almost instantly.

Wyatt gained artistic inspiration from TikTok videos, finding a mentor on the platform who encouraged her talents. She met her mentor – Misti from Geaux Glitter Co. in Louisiana – in 2020. Misti has been a huge support to Wyatt and also supplies glitter products to Zap.

“I started talking to her and she kind of guided me to, ‘don’t be scared, just do it,’ and I did – I just jumped into it and it took off,” Wyatt explained. Now Wyatt has a 4-foot by 16-foot wall of glitter, plus another 8 feet she is working to fill up.

Wyatt turned her creative passion into a business in 2022.  Her dad came up with the name “ZAP” to represent their children’s middle names – Zane, Avery, and Paul.

“She took her hobby and just kind of kept going crazy with it,” Sanemeterio remembered.

“Because the business started taking off and I started getting asked for more creative designs, I decided to go to school to further my capabilities for creating custom designs,” Wyatt added.

In 2024, after completing a degree in graphic design, she was ready to hit the ground running.

Wyatt offers an array of customizable tumblers, T-shirts, 3D prints, and acrylic work that she makes in-house for individual, group and business orders. She has an entire shed of materials so she always has the supplies necessary to create custom orders at any moment.

“My goal is every person that orders a tumbler gets something unique and customized to them,” Wyatt enlightened. “My anticipation is there will be no two tumblers that are the same – I can get them similar, but no two will be identical. Everybody is unique, just like our products.”

And for those looking for all natural bath products, Wyatt has created something beautiful. She has developed products with no chemicals, no artificial dyes – only natural ingredients with essential oils.

“My kids love bath bombs and a lot of them have artificial dyes and all that in them,” she explained. “I wanted to know what was going in the bath with our kids so that’s why I decided to make our own.”

Fun Fact: the bath bombs do not just fizz and dissipate– they turn into a bubble bath too, something that sets her products apart. She also loves putting together Epsom salt soaks, milk baths and the like. Zap bath products are kid-friendly and Wyatt has received positive feedback from customers with eczema, sore muscles and other conditions that love them. Plus, anything her customers would like to create or cannot find anywhere else, Wyatt is up for the challenge.

“We absolutely love to be challenged so if someone says, ‘Hey, I really like this [product] but I’d rather it be local’ or ‘I can’t find exactly what I’m looking for’, bring it to us and challenge us,” she said. “We’re up or expanding at any point, taking on new ideas. We just kind of roll with [our kids’] likes and dislikes and what we can handle doing – take it one step at a time.”

Wyatt also lives next door to her best friend and stained-glass guru Kirsten Day – check out the All Day Stained Glass section on Zap’s website and reach out with questions or orders for custom, handmade glassworks.

If you missed Zap at Dayton Valley Days, reach out to them directly with questions or creative ideas. They will ship but also offer free local pickup as well as delivery in Dayton and surrounding areas.
