Healthy Communities Meets Thursday April 9
Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties’ next public meeting takes place Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Silver Springs Community Center (2945 Fort Churchill St, Silver Springs) from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The April meeting includes presentations on two different topics by guest speakers.
Representatives from the Nevada Department of Public and Behavioral Health, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and NAMI Western Nevada will lead a town hall, providing an opportunity for attendees to provide input on the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline service.
Afterward, Healthy Communities’ Prevention Coordinator Alisha Moss will give an update on Nevada’s Clean Indoor Air Act, as well as updates about current tobacco use and vaping prevention strategies in our region.
In addition to breakfast and guest presentations, the Coalition’s bimonthly meetings include updates and announcements from Coalition staff, volunteers, and community partners.
Healthy Communities Coalition is comprised of local, state, federal, and tribal group partners, community volunteers, and a board of directors and staff all working together on a common goal to strengthen communities in the Lyon and Storey regions. The Coalition strives to promote and support sustainable,
inclusive prevention services, community initiatives, and capacity building systems that address all components of a healthy community.
