Healthy Communities Coalition meets Thursday, Oct. 8
Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties next public meeting is Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026 at the Silver Springs Community Center (2945 Fort Churchill St., Silver Springs) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The nonprofit’s October meeting includes presentations by guest speakers.
Guest speakers will address four different topics during the meeting. Speakers from Food Bank of Northern Nevada’s SNAP Outreach will give updates on Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD) requirements. Speakers from Nevada Health Centers will give an overview of their outreach in the region, including services provided through their mobile units. Speakers from American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Senior Community Service Employment Program will describe how the program benefits local seniors and communities. Lastly, speakers from Nevada’s managed care organizations will provide updates on Medicaid's open enrollment window.
In addition to breakfast and guest presentations, the Coalition’s bi-monthly meetings include updates and announcements from Coalition staff, volunteers and community partners.
Healthy Communities is comprised of local, state, federal and tribal group partners, community volunteers, and a board of directors and staff all working together on a common goal to strengthen communities in the Lyon and Storey regions. The Coalition strives to promote and support sustainable, inclusive prevention services, community initiatives, and capacity building systems that address all components of a healthy community.
