Fourth Ward School Exclusive Fourth of July Celebration

Virginia City, NV — The Historic Fourth Ward School Museum & Archive invites the public to celebrate two extraordinary milestones this Independence Day: the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 150th anniversary of Virginia City’s iconic Fourth Ward School building.

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, guests will experience one of the most unique Fourth of July events on the Comstock. Attendees will enjoy spectacular views of the official Virginia City fireworks show from the historic Fourth Ward School’s rarely accessible balcony and Mansard roof attic, spaces that are typically closed to the public.

The evening will feature live music by the Gold n’ Vandals, food included with admission, and a complimentary first beverage for every guest. Free parking in the museum’s designated lot is also included with each ticket.

Originally constructed in 1876 during the height of the Comstock mining boom, the Fourth Ward School has stood for a century and a half as one of Nevada’s most recognizable historic landmarks. This special anniversary event offers guests the opportunity to celebrate Independence Day inside a building that itself represents an important chapter in American Western history.

Due to the limited capacity of the balcony and fourth-floor viewing spaces, attendance is restricted to only 50 guests.
