Dayton, Nevada -  The farmers market in Dayton is the place to be for local flavor. Open on Thursdays from  3:30pm-6:30pm starting June 18, 2026, the market offers a seasonal bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables, local honey, and local Cottage Food products like gluten free baked goods, healthy dog treats, sourdough bread, pies, and locally made crafts.

The Dayton Market is where people go for fresh food, but it’s much more than that. It’s about meeting your neighbor, chatting with local farmers about their honey, and taste-testing roasted veggies. It’s about stepping into the adjacent Solidarity Community Garden to learn gardening tips from local experts while your kids play lawn games or take part in an art project in the shade.

Evangeline Elston, AmeriCorps VISTA member, is developing a schedule of guest musicians at the market and garden, and free community activities such as hula hoop lessons, crafts, children’s lawn games, and hands-on gardening activities. Organizers suggest following the Facebook pages for both the Dayton Solidarity Community Garden and the Dayton Farmers Market, where activities and guest musicians will be listed each week.

“The Dayton Farmers Market is a great place to come for fresh produce and to learn about where your food comes from,” said Garden and Nutrition Advisor Morigan Albatraoz. “It’s also a place where you can share ideas with farmers, producers, and neighbors about what to do with their food, like recipe sharing.”

Vendors are still signing up for the market (contact Evangeline at evangeline@hcclsc.org or Morigan at morigan@hcclsc.org if you’d like to apply), but the current list of vendors includes:

Misbeehaven Farms- honey

Smee Acres Family Farm – farm products

Crystal's Bi'chin Ki'chin- Gluten free and other baked goods

A Taste of Sugar Bakery- baked goods like cookies, cupcakes, pies

Gizzie's Goodies- homemade, healthy dog treats

Custom Gardens-  herb and veggie starts, baked goods

Black Monarch- tender brisket beef jerky

Elemental Wood Gifts- handmade wooden gifts like candle holders, lamps, gnome friends and wine bottle toppers

The Bakery with Allie Baker- sourdough breads, cinnamon rolls, cookies

The Dayton Farmers Market is part of the nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey’s “healthy food hub”, a strategy where many groups and individuals work together regionally to improve access to and demand for locally and sustainably-grown, healthy, and affordable food.

Health and wellness: Various organizations will offer health and wellness information at the market. For instance, Healthy Communities Coalition’s booth serves another goal of the market - strengthening community by providing details about health and wellness resources, mental health and behavioral health support, and alcohol, tobacco and other drug use prevention education. The Healthy Communities’ team also offers information for anyone with a goal of quitting tobacco. The Coalition’s table will also provide useful tips and resources for busy families, provided by the Coalition’s Parent Advocate, Connie Ruano.

Helping youths learn skills on the job: Paid high school interns have been part of the market’s business model for most of the two decades that it’s been operating. Youth interns with Healthy Communities’ Comstock Youth Works program will be learning on the job at the market again this summer, earning a wage and gaining skills in customer service, cashiering, and confidence in making sales.

The market welcomes cash, credit, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers, and SNAP-EBT.

Where and When: The Dayton Farmers Market is open on Thursdays June 18, 2026, through Sept. 17, 2026, from 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at 60 Second Ave. and Hwy 50 (next to Pizza Factory).
