The Dayton Valley Dog Park (DVDP) is preparing to reopen its All-Breed Area following a two-week closure for renovations, marking the first significant upgrades since the park's inception in 2011. The renovations were made possible by a generous $25,000 grant from the Brown Family Foundation.

With the expertise of Cassinelli Landscaping & Construction, the improvements aim to enhance both the appeal of, and improve operations in, the All-Breed Area. Among the notable additions are four new ornamental pear trees, which will provide shade for park visitors in the future.

Newly constructed rocked planter areas are expected to alleviate issues of mud and standing water that have long been a concern for park users. The installation of curbing around the planters will facilitate easier maintenance, ensuring the park remains a welcoming space for dog owners and their pets. Less visible but equally important, updates to the park’s sprinkler system are expected to optimize water usage by targeting key areas and reducing waste.

“We’re excited to welcome the community back to an improved and more attractive space,” said the DVDP Board of Directors in a statement. “These upgrades reflect our ongoing commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for dogs and their caretakers.”

The public is invited to attend the reopening celebration and see the enhancements firsthand on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m.
