Chronicle Columnist Accepts Minister Post
Jeff Headley

The Chronicle’s columnist Jeff Headley has recently been appointed minister of the Dayton Valley Community Church of the Nazarene. We at the Chronicle want to wish Jeff all the best in his latest endeavor, and congratulate DVCCN on their excellent choice. Jeff will continue to produce his popular weekly column “King’s Corner.”

Jeff was born in California’s Bay Area and grew up just outside Los Angeles and on the Monterrey Peninsula. In the late ‘70s he twice won the Angel Award for Christian filmmaking, and he co-designed “Just Like Ice Cream”, the best-selling Christian book of 1982. In the ‘80s he was on the national board of Youth For Christ in Australia, and in the ‘90s was both a missionary to China and the editor of the international Christian magazine “Asian Outreach”. He helped establish a Bible College in South Australia while in pastoral ministry.

On the business side, he was the first Microsoft Certified Professional outside of the United States and has been a regular speaker at both Microsoft and Adobe conferences in the US and overseas. He has two Masters degrees, in Business Administration and in Global Project Management. Along with project managing significant IT projects including the establishment of the largest website in Australia (ninemsn.com.au), he has also project managed the opening of iron ore mines and the redesign of Australia’s largest steelmaking plant.

Jeff returned to the US, to the Reno/Carson City area, in 2021 to look after his father. His five grown children live ‘down under’ and are dual USA/Australia citizens. He’s been a regular speaker at Dayton Valley Community Church of the Nazarene and has now become their senior minister.

Jeff is a humorous storyteller with a reverence for scripture, memory, and the kind of language that lingers. He has a soft spot for the quiet kind of wisdom that’s earned, not bought. He respects those who invest in others, friends and especially their family. He gently but firmly challenges us to walk with God. He believes in work that matters, whether managing teams or distilling a sermon into something unforgettable. He enjoys those who know that meaning isn’t found in the shallow end.
